he first opportunity of the proposed college development plan calls for the purchase and completion of five existing buildings at the corner of Riverview Parkway and Town Center Drive. These buildings will be completed to house classrooms, music practice studios, computer labs, offices and a library. Total cost including furnishings, fixtures, technology infrastructure and transition expenses is estimated to be $12 million.
Student housing will be constructed during the second opportunity for the project. Apartment-style housing would be located adjacent to the 55 acre Town Center Community Park with many units overlooking the San Diego River. The residence hall will accommodate 450 students plus a full-service dining facility at a cost of $10 million. The total for the first two opportunities is estimated to be $22 million. Options to have the housing constructed and managed at no cost to the College are also being discussed with local developers.
