This week the Vatican is holding an evolution conference as part of the 150 anniversary of the publication of Darwin's "Origin of Species." According to the Catholic News Service, other views like creationism or intelligent design were not included because the organizers wanted it to be "'strictly scientific' ... that discussed rational philosophy and theology along with the latest scientific discoveries." Did you know that the Catholic Church believes that evolution is not incompatible with Christianity?
Also this week, I was cataloging the latest volume of Mars Hill Audio, a bimonthly audio magazine of contemporary culture & Christian conviction, that the library subscribes to -- there is an 'article' in volume 93. The interview with James A. Herrick discusses evolution as a religion. You can listen to the discussion here. Or check out the whole issue on from the library: CD 261 M363h v.93.
