Travel Bands
Travel Bands primarily serve off-campus - ministering for church services, youth groups, college groups, camps, schools, retreats, and special events. Typically, Travel Bands will serve off-campus 2 to 3 times per month, and can include weekend as well as weekday commitments. Travel Bands rehearse a minimum of four hours per week with additional rehearsals as needed.
Ministry Team scholarships are available for Travel Band members. Awards are determined based on eligibility and the audition process. All Ministry Team members attend a one-week training period in the fall, occasional training workshops, monthly team reunions, and monthly one-on-one meetings with the Ministry Team Manager. All meetings are mandatory and essential to maintaining team unity and clarity of purpose.
Team Standards
Members of the SDCC Ministry Team agree to adhere to team standards and procedures as outlined in the Ministry Team Contract. Additionally, team members are expected to demonstrate a standard level of musical ability. Some of these abilities include but are not limited to:
• Reading chord charts and lead sheets
• Leading songs from memory
• Holding a melody and/or harmony part (vocalists)
• Playing to a metronome (rhythm section)
• Obtaining and maintaining all necessary instruments and gear
