Requirements and SDCC Insurance Eligibility

SDCC’s current provider is Renaissance Agencies, Inc. and offers comprehensive coverage information at .

All undergraduate students registered in 9 units or more at SDCC are required to enroll in the College group plan unless proof of a current policy (insurance ID card) and a signed waiver are submitted prior to the beginning of class.

Insurance is billed each semester (Spring semester coverage is active through Summer) for $400 and may be incorporated into payment plans. SDCC reserves the right to adjust coverage which may affect cost.

Effective and Termination Dates

The College Master Policy becomes effective on August 1, and terminates the following year on July 31. College provided insurance is available at the beginning of each enrolled semester should personal insurance terminate.

Referrals for Outside Care

When medical attention is necessary, students must use the services of the SDCC Health Clinic first where treatment will be administered, or referral issued. Expenses incurred for medical treatment rendered outside of the SDCC Health Clinic when no prior approval or referral is obtained are excluded from coverage. A referral issued by Health Services must accompany the claim when submitted.

A Health Services referral for outside care is not necessary under certain conditions. ID cards should be carried at all times.

It is the student's responsibility to file a claim and pay expenses not covered by the policy. For further information on "how to file claims", please see the  Claims Procedure Policy, and visit the Renaissance Agencies, Inc. homepage at ; or visit the on-campus Health Services center.
