Director of Spiritual Life

Hi! I'm Steve Jenkins, and I'm very excited about this opportunity to serve and lead in the Student Development Department. I am responsible for helping the students of San Diego Christian College personally grow and develop during their time here. To accomplish this I get to work closely with the Student Development Team. My goal in this position is to balance the administrative side with the relational dynamics, and I'm definitely looking forward to spending personal time with our student body. My intention is to help our campus be a place where the students' personal faith can develop and grow!

I am married and have 3 children. My wife Malia, and our youngest daughter Alyssa, will be a big part of all we do at SDCC. Family is the central part of who I am and what I do. Before coming to SDCC I was involved in student ministry, serving as a Youth Pastor for 30 years in Southern California and Arizona.

I have a passion to live a life of faith that is real, relevant, and significant. I love people, and I am always looking for ways to help serve them and God in better ways. Missions has always been a path that God has used to stretch and train me, and I can't seem to get enough of it! Serving with our students during the school year is one of my favorite and most significant times of each year.

If we are going to Starbucks... I'm going for the white mocha, but if you're low on cash come by the office and I'll hook you up with a cup of "Lana” coffee from the hill-tribes region of northern Thailand.

If you see me when I'm off work... I'll usually be wearing jeans and a T-shirt and working on some building project.  I love water sports, and spending time with family and friends. My new sport is blue water spear fishing, which I do with my son Brad.

The closest thing I have to a hero... is a missionary named Mike Mann and his family, who leave it all to serve the poorest of the poor in South East Asia.  Their love for God and compassion for people is a catalyst that helps drive my faith.
