"The reason I have the job that I have is because of the debate team. I was just asking my Manager and Vice President the other day why they hired me and why I was put on the best sales team at Cbeyond. They said it was because of my interviews and my experience in debate. Debate was by far the single most beneficial activity and class that I participated in at school."

"During my college years, I knew that everything I was learning while in the SDCC Communication Department would prepare me tremendously for my future professional career. What I did not know was that not only would the obvious skills, such as public speaking, professional communication, and organizational writing, be beneficial in helping me attain a job, but I would acquire additional richer skills that would push me even further. Some of these include the facets of interpersonal communication as well as understanding how and why people communicate the way they do. By asking countless questions, never giving up, learning that failure is not always a bad thing, and following the guidance of God and my professors, I discovered powerful reasons for uncovering truths. I learned to search for and analyze all of the potential factors influencing a situation and then produce an impactful conclusion or solution.
Today, I still use these skills so that I can help others in my career as a Behavior Therapist. Working with young autistic children, I seek to help them and their parents grow closer in reaching and growing beyond their highest point of self-actualization. For everyone, there is always more to learn and ways of becoming a stronger individual to radically impact our world for Christ. None of us can reach perfection in our own human strength while on this earth, but God, through some of His tools like the professors in the Communication Department, is faithful to complete and perfect the good work He began in us until the day of Jesus Christ."

"Once I graduated from the Communication program, I realized that the curriculum covered and the experiences I gained through the program, would continuously prove advantageous. The discipline of communication has a unique capability to address relevant and practical subjects and lessons. I know that it was the communication department and the fabulous faculty at San Diego Christian College that have made it possible for me to be where I am now. It is really great to get to return as an instructor to the program that cultivated in me such a love of learning and a desire to give back."
- Kaitlin Brooks Wilbur, Instructor at San Diego Christian College and San Diego State University, Bachelor of Arts in Communication
