FAQs

1. How do I access my student account information? 

All current students can find their most up-to-date balance information by logging on to Empower Web.

2. How do I request a refund check? When and where will it be ready? 

Refund checks are available to students whose funds exceed their charges.  In addition, students must ensure that they have given the Enrollment Services Office proper authorization to release excess cash and/or Title IV funds as indicated on the Financial Agreement survey that is completed during Financial Check-In.  Amounts and timing of refunds varies by student and may be calculated by following the instructions below.  This information cannot be released over the phone.  

For all students:
Complete ALL Financial Aid processes and documents
Complete ALL Financial Check-In surveys and request a refund (direct deposit or check)
Attend and participate in your classes as required

For APS students: 
After the 2nd week of your 2nd module, attendance verification will be processed and financial aid will be applied to your balance accordingly.
Approximately 2-3 weeks from the date Financial Aid is applied to your account you can expect a refund.  You may view your Billing Detail Summary on Empower Web to check if Financial Aid has been posted. 
You can view your schedule on Empower Web to determine when your second module begins.

For Traditional Students:After the 2nd week of classes, attendance verification will be processed and financial aid will be applied to your balance accordingly.
Approximately 2-3 weeks from the date Financial Aid is applied to your account you can expect a refund.

Can I request my refund to be expedited for urgent financial needs?
Due to the nature of federal and institutional regulations and policies, we cannot expedite refunds.
Please also remember that all financial aid is to be used only for education expenses. 

3. I need to buy textbooks.  How do I get a book voucher for the SDCC bookstore? 

Students may request a book voucher in the Enrollment Services Office.  Only students that have finalized their financial aid and have a credit on their student account are eligible to receive a book voucher.  Students may use the book voucher at the online SDCC bookstore to purchase their textbooks and supplies.  Vouchers may be redeemed at the online SDCC Bookstore only.
