General Information for Graduating Seniors

Requirements

All coursework must be completed to participate in the commencement ceremony, including student ministry credit and receipt of all official transcripts for transfer work from other colleges.  If you have any questions regarding your outstanding requirements, please contact the Enrollment Services Office.

Financial Obligations

All Financial Obligations to the college – tuition, fees and fines (parking, library, etc.) must be met prior to May 2, 2014 in order to participate in the commencement ceremony and receive a diploma or transcripts.

Honors

Honors for the ceremony will be computed on all SDCC coursework through Fall 2013.  Final transcripts and diploma will reflect final cumulative SDCC GPA and honors.  To receive Latin honors, you must have completed a minimum of 60 units at SDCC.

• CUM LAUDE:   3.70-3.79  
• MAGNA CUM LAUDE:   3.80-3.89 
• SUMMA CUM LAUDE:  3.90-4.00 
• APS Departmental Honors:    3.90-4.00 (no minimum units required) 

Caps & Gowns

These may be picked up from the Enrollment Services Office one week prior to Graduation or at rehearsal.  Honor cords will be distributed with cap and gown for eligible students.

Diplomas

Your diploma will be mailed 4-6 weeks after grades are processed and degree is verified.

Etiquette

Celebrate your accomplishment in a way that is in keeping with the dignity of this occasion.  Keep in mind that many people have worked long and hard to enjoy this day – do not allow your celebrations to disrupt the ceremony.  Please no air horns or other noise-makers.

Cell phones, purses, and other personal items should be left with family members or guests prior to line-up.  Graduates should not carry anything during the ceremony.

Proper Attire for Graduates

Suggested Attire for Women: 
Dresses
Low heel or flat shoes

Suggested Attire for Men:Dark trousers, collared shirt, tie is optional
Dark shoes and socks
No sandals

School dress standards will apply.
Your mortarboard (cap) should be worn so that it sits parallel with the ground, with the tassel hanging to the right.

San Diego Christian College allows the following adornments with the graduates’ academic regalia:
Academic Honor Cords  
Honors Medallion
Valedictorian Medallion 
International English Honor Society Cords

Any adornments not listed above will not be permitted at the commencement ceremony.
