Admissions Counselor 

 Status: Permanent-Full-Time/Exempt

Department: Admissions - 121

Reports to: Director of Admissions

  

Purpose 

      Recruits and builds relationships with prospective students, interfacing with them throughout the admissions process with the objective of building enrollment in SDCC’s programs. 

 

Scope 

Responsible for building relationships with prospective students and student influencers (youth pastors, guidance counselors, etc.) with the object of increasing enrollment. 

Responsible for recruiting and follow-up of prospective students through letters, phone calls, and other correspondence.

Responsible for planning and executing travel to recruiting events (college fairs, school visits, church visits, conferences, concerts, etc) in the attempt to build relationships with prospective students but also increasing the visibility of San Diego Christian College.

Responsible for scheduling, visiting, and continued contact with community colleges and their subsequent transfer centers.

 

Work Performed 

Daily duties: Administrative

Receive incoming calls from parents and students responding to questions and concerns.

Maintain contact with students as to their position in the admissions process.

Maintain updates on files for acceptance.

Recommend institutional aid to financial aid office for accepted students who meet requirements.

Coordinate classes, chapel, and tour of campus on scheduled visitation days for prospective students.

Assist admissions personnel in execution of visitation day events.

Review and discuss options with families concerning their financial award letters.

Perform preliminary transcript evaluations and communicate this information to the prospective student.

Manage SDCC's social media presence.

 

Weekly duties: Recruiting

Attend a variety of fairs promoting SDCC to prospective students as well as scheduled visitations to high schools and churches meeting with guidance counselors, youth pastors, and students. 

Consistently seek to build relationships with youth pastors, guidance counselors, camp administrators, etc. in the attempt to create an awareness of SDCC locally, regionally and nationally. 

  

Qualifications 

Education or equivalent experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Prior experience: Recruiting experience necessary

Outgoing personality, people oriented, able to travel
