Sheila's Story

 Sheila Simons

As a military wife and stay at home Mom going back to school seemed terrifying. It had been years since I attended college so I lacked confidence in myself. I was plagued with the fear of failure and convinced that I would not be able to succeed. In my quiet time with the Lord, He made it clear that I was to face my fear and finish what I started years ago. He pointed me to SDCC so my journey began when I let go and let God.

Through a series of divine appointments, I landed in the main office of the APS department having a conversation with Diana, the Office Manager. I began sharing my desire to study Christian Ministries and my potential future with SDCC. Diana touched my heart so much because she not only took the time out of her day to listen to my fears and concerns, but she prayed with me asking God to confirm His will for my life. When I left, I was overwhelmed with how sincere and passionate the APS staff was toward me achieving my educational and personal goals.

Since attending the APS program through SDCC, I have grown confidence in my education as well as a clear direction of what I will be doing the rest of my life. The classes are convenient for a working family and the teachers are amazing! I used to dread the thought of attending school, but every class opens in prayer and you just know you’re in the presence of God. It feels like family. The classes are challenging and fun; moving quickly so that there is never a chance to get bored with what you’re learning.

My goal is to eventually use my Christian Ministries degree to life coach/counsel people to make drastic changes in their lives. With the foundations I am learning through the APS program. I am quite certain I will get there!
