La Mirada, Calif. --The San Diego Christian College men’s basketball team was unable to overcome a 25-4 first half run by the Biola Eagles, falling 76-45 on Tuesday night.
SDCC falls to 7-17 overall and 3-14 in the GSAC with the loss. Biola moves to 21-8 overall and 11-6 in the GSAC with the win.
SDCC hosts Concordia in the regular season finale on Saturday, February 21st at 5:30pm.
SDCC jumped up 3-2 on a Raphael Rodriguez three pointer on the Hawks’ second possession; it would be the Hawks’ only lead of the game. Biola took the lead back, and maintained a small advantage for the first eight minutes. A Jacob Garcia jumper with 12:24 in the first half cut the Biola lead to 14-13, but the Eagles went on a 25-6 run to close out the first half and took a commanding 39-19 lead at halftime.
Biola kept the momentum going in the second half, expanding their lead to 53-33 five minutes into the second half. SDCC was unable to cut into the Eagle lead, and Biola sustained the advantage, taking the 76-45 win.
SDCC was led by Raphael Rodriguez and Benji Arvizu with 9 points each, while Tim Sanders added 8 points.
Biola was paced by Chase Adams with 16 points. Given Kalipinde added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
SDCC shot 31.4% (16-51) from the field for the game while Biola was 29-60 (48.3%).
The Hawks close out their season on Saturday, February 25th hosting #4 Concordia at 7:30pm.
