The Athletic Department of San Diego Christian College is pleased to announce the hiring of Rob Lisama as Head Volleyball Coach. Lisama comes to SDCC with an array of experience at the high school, college, and club levels.
“I am thankful to the Lord for bringing Rob to SDCC,” said Athletic Director Chris Bando. “His knowledge and passion for volleyball, combined with his mature spiritual leadership and philosophy of coaching, make for a great fit.“
Lisama has been part of the San Diego volleyball coaching community since 1989. Early in his coaching career, he coached high school volleyball in the South Bay and ran the volleyball youth programs for the City of Chula Vista. Lisama eventually moved to Southwestern College where he gained valuable college coaching experience.
From 1998 to 2009, Lisama coached at Coast Volleyball Club, located in Sorrento Valley. During his time at Coast Volleyball Club, Lisama coached 18’s, 17’s, 16’s, and 15’s. For the past two years, Lisama stepped away from coaching to help raise his two future volleyball stars. During that time, he served as a consultant to Sunset Volleyball Club located in Point Loma.
“As a graduate of SDCC, I am blessed to return and be part of a coaching staff that is shaping tomorrow’s leaders,” said Lisama. “I challenge my athletes in four ways: mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. By doing this, it builds a strong foundation for our players to transition from college to career. ”
Lisama is a graduate of SDCC, attaining his BS in Business Management. He also holds an MBA in Marketing from Keller Graduate School of Management.
This year, Lisama is celebrating his 14th wedding anniversary with his wife Diane. They have two volleyball stars named Lili (6) and Ella (3).
Lisama also attends Eastlake Church in Chula Vista, serving on their music ministry team as a drummer.
