]Santa Clarita, Calif. --
The San Diego Christian College men’s basketball team continued its brutal schedule on Saturday, traveling to #10 The Master’s College. A slow start doomed the Hawks as TMC built a 31-14 lead at halftime en route to a 60-47 win.
The Hawks fall to 5-12 overall and 1-9 in the GSAC. TMC moves to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the GSAC.
Both teams struggled early, with TMC making the first basket of the game at the 16:56 mark. The Mustangs advanced their lead to 13-4 with 10:47 remaining before half. On the ensuing possession, SDC’s Keenan Patterson drilled a three pointer to cut the lead to 13-7. That is the closest SDC would be the remainder of the game. TMC closed out the final ten minutes of the half on a 18-7 run and took a 31-14 lead in the locker room.
The Hawks shot only 27.3% (6-22) in the first half while TMC shot 44.8% (13-29).
SDC put together a much better second half, outscoring the Mustangs 33-29, including an 18-6 run to end the game. But in the end, it was not enough to overcome the large deficit.
The Hawks were led by Benji Arvizu with 12 points on 6-11 shooting. Calvin Seaberry grabbed 8 rebounds off the bench.
Mike Harmon scored 16 points to pace TMC while Anthony Cammon and Leif Karlberg had 11 points each.
SDC continues GSAC play on Tuesday, January 31st at home against Point Loma Nazarene. Tip is scheduled for 5:30pm.
