El Cajon, Calif. -- The San Diego Christian College Lady Hawks used a quick start and a strong finish to win a crucial GSAC matchup over the Biola Lady Eagles on Tuesday night. SDC used an 8-3 run over the final four minutes to pull out the 56-50 victory. The even matchup went back and forth all night as the game saw 8 ties and 8 lead changes and neither team holding a lead larger than 7 points.

The win moves SDC to 15-6 overall and 4-5 in the GSAC. Biola falls to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in the GSAC.

The Lady Hawks jumped out quickly with an 11-4 run directly after the tipoff. Senior Brittany Robinson had the hot hand in the first half, connecting on four three pointers in the first eight minutes and scored 12 of the Lady Hawks’ first 14 points. Biola was able to cut into the SDC lead, and even captured the lead for a moment at 21-20 with 3:57 left, but the Lady Hawks were able to bring the game back to a tie when Robinson hit a running jumper as time expired to send the game to a 25-25 tie at the break.

Out of the locker room, both teams went back and forth much of the half, with three ties and four lead changes in the first twelve minutes of the second half. With the game tied 41-41 and 8:48 left in the game, Robinson drilled a jumper in the paint to put the Hawks up and triggered a modest 6-0 run. Biola was able to fight back and made it a one possession game with less than one minute to play.

The Lady Hawks called a timeout with :28 seconds remaining and holding a 53-50 lead. Out of the timeout, SDC’s Hannah Miller’s shot rimmed out, but the Lady Hawks’ Brittany Daniel grabbed the offensive rebound and put the ball back in to seal the game.

SDC was led by Robinson and Daniel, who combined for 40 of the teams 56 points. Robinson poured in 21 while Daniel had 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

The Hawks forced 17 Eagle turnovers, while scoring 21 points off turnovers.

The Lady Hawks head to The Master’s College for a Saturday evening matchup set for a 5:30pm tip.
