The San Diego Christian College women’s basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule in fine fashion with a dominating 79-41 victory over Pacific Union College in the GSAC Classic hosted by Westmont College.
The win is SDC’s ninth straight win and 12th win in 13 games. The Lady Hawks are now 12-2 overall.
The Lady Hawks forced 37 Pioneer turnovers that led to 35 points in a game that saw SDC hold a lead of over 40 points in second half before ending the game with a 38 point advantage.
SDC never trailed, starting the game on a 9-0 run and scoring 26 points before PUC reached double figures. Hannah Miller (pictured left) had 13 first half points to pace SDC, including hitting 4-4 from the field. The Lady Hawks’ stretched their lead to 23 on a Miller jumper with :38 remaining in the half. The margin would remain the same heading into the locker room with SDC up 42-19.
The second half was a continuation of the first, with the Lady Hawks in control. SDC rolled out a 21-3 run over a nine minute stretch midway through the half to double the Pioneers’ score. The Lady Hawks cruised the rest of the way to the victory.
The Lady Hawks had a balanced attack with 10 players scoring. Miller led SDC with 19 points and Juanita Lewis had 12 points. As a team, SDC had 20 steals and 19 assists while forcing PUC into a 27.7% shooting night from the field.
The Lady Hawks pick up GSAC play on Tuesday, January 3rd down the 8 freeway at Point Loma Nazarene University.
