On their longest road trip of the season, the San Diego Christian College women’s basketball team defeated Simpson University on Tuesday evening, 80-69. In a team win, The Lady Hawks saw four players score in double figures and dish out 32 assists as a team.
The Lady Hawks are winners in nine of their last ten games, including five straight. On the season, the win moves SDC to 9-2.
The game started out tight, with the score knotted at 12-12 seven minutes into the game. The Lady Hawks would go on a 16-6 run over the next 10:00 to push the lead into double figures. SU battled back and cut the lead to 32-25 on a last second tip-in as the first half clock ran out.
SDC put the game out of reach with a hot shooting second half. The Lady Hawks were 18-29 (62.1%) from the field in the second frame, while holding the Red Hawks to 14-35 shooting.
The Lady Hawks were led by Brittany Daniel (pictured left) with 20 points. Jasmin Thomas added 13 points and dished out 11 assists to collect the double-double. Hannah Miller chipped in with 13 points off the bench and Heather Serven had 11 points.
SDC shot 54.2% (32-59) from the field for the game and won the rebounding battle 35-31. In addition, the Lady Hawks forced 29 turnovers and had 28 team steals.
SDC continues their Northern California road trip at William Jessup University on Wednesday, December 21st at 3:00pm.
