El Cajon, Calif. -- Two Hawks, Justin Picou (pictured left) and Hannah Waggoner (pictured below) were named to the All-GSAC soccer teams that were released on Saturday. Each team, men's soccer and women's soccer, consists of 28 selections from the 10 Golden State Athletic Conference competitors.
Picou, a junior from San Diego, finished out the season with two goals and four assists in 16 games while playing both forward and defender for the Hawks. Waggoner, a senior from San Diego, led the GSAC in both goals (13) and points (28) while finishing second all-time on SDCC’s career points and goals scored list. This was the third All-GSAC selection for Waggoner in four seasons.
For the men, Biola University was the GSAC tournament champion while Fresno Pacific won the regular season title. Junior Paul Islas (Fresno, CA) from FPU received the GSAC Player of the Year award. Jamie Rodriguez, FPU’s head coach, was awarded GSAC Coach of the Year.
Point Loma Nazarene swept the GSAC Awards for the women with Tim Hall as Coach of the Year and Erica Wessels as Player of the Year. PLNU was the regular season champion and Azusa Pacific University was the GSAC tournament champion for the women.
