El Cajon, Calif. --After a flurry of goals midway through the first half, the San
Diego Christian College women’s soccer team found themselves tied up, then behind
as the Master’s College Mustangs scored three first half goals in route to a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The loss ends the Lady Hawks season at 5-11 and 1-8 in the
GSAC.
After falling behind in the 24th minute, the Lady
Hawks scored just over a minute later on the quick attack. Freshman Gabrielle
Kelly connected with Senior Nicole Quintanilla on a cross from the right into
the box and Quintanilla headed the ball in for her fifth goal of the season.
The Mustangs responded quickly scoring in the 31st
and 33rd minutes to take a 3-1 lead into half.
The second half saw the Mustangs tack on another goal in the
51st minute. SDCC was able to fire off five second half shots, but
was unable to find the net.
The SDCC soccer program honored the six seniors and their
contributions to the program before the game. The seniors included Katelyn
Ogle, Kelly Brakebill, Kelsey Messmer, Mireya Flores, Hannah Waggoner, and
Nicole Quintanilla.
