El Cajon, CA-- With the season winding down, the San Diego Christian
College women’s soccer team was looking to play spoiler to the #25 Vanguard University
Lions’ seeding in the GSAC playoffs. While things held together through one
half, the Lions were able to pull away with five second half goals in route to
a 6-0 victory.
The loss sends SDCC to 5-10 overall and 1-7 in the GSAC. VU
moves to 12-3-1 and 4-2-1 in the GSAC.
The Lady Hawks fought hard in the first half, limiting the
Lion attack to one goal in the first half. Senior goalkeeper Katelyn Ogle kept
VU at bay with six first half saves while facing 12 shots to send SDCC into the
locker room down one at the break.
“We played well in the first half,” said Head Coach Carlos
Calderson. “Thing broke down in the second half and we got beat.”
The second half was a different story as VU fired off 11
shots with 5 finding the net. Amanda Couch had two goals and an assist for the
Lions in the game.
SDCC finishes their season at home on Saturday at 12:00pm
for Senior Day.
