El Cajon, Calif. --The San Diego Christian College Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs welcome back players from the past in the annual Alumni Game on Saturday, October 22nd at 12:00pm (women’s) and 2:00pm (men’s). This is the only opportunity for the campus to see their teams in action before the women tip off in their home opener November 3rd and the men on November 11th.

“This game gives us an opportunity to welcome back many past players who had a hand in building our programs,” said head coach Tim Cook. “When I was hired, I wanted to blend the old with the new. We have had some great basketball tradition but have struggled as of late.”

“We want to show the alumni we are on the right track to restoring that tradition.”

Women’s coach Kelsey Dillon agrees, “This game also gives the alumni the opportunity to see how the program has evolved and to make personal relationships with the current athletes so they will have a greater desire to come support them.”

“I want the Lady Hawks basketball program to be something people are proud to have been a part of and encouraging for those who are currently playing. Once a Lady Hawk, always a lady Hawk.”

The men expect a competitive game with the alumni attending including past NAIA All-Americans. Also, former NCCAA National Championship winning coaches Art Wilmore and Kelvin Starr will be coaching the alumni.

“I have such respect for Coach Wilmore and Coach Starr and the tradition that they built at SDCC,” said Cook. “I want to thank both coaches and the former players for the opportunity to mesh the past and present generations on campus.”

Likewise for the women, Coach Dillon believes this will give the team a good opportunity to see where they are before tipping off.

“"I think this alumni game will be a good opportunity for the current players to see who has come before them and see where we are now,” said Coach Dillon. “I know a lot of the alumni still play, so they will probably put up a good fight.”
