Santa Barbara, CA--The San Diego Christian College women’s soccer team continued GSAC play on Saturday afternoon in Santa Barbara, falling to the #12 rated Westmont College Warriors 8-1.
Westmont improves to 9-3 (4-1 GSAC) while SDCC falls to 4-8 (0-5 GSAC).
SDCC was never able to get on track as WC jumped out to a quick lead with a goal only three minutes in. From there, the Warriors were able to score again in the 19th minute and the 21st minute to take a 3-0 half way through the first half.
The Lady Hawks worked to mount a comeback as senior Nicole Quintanilla scored her first goal of the season on a free kick to cut the Westmont lead. However, the Warriors refused to let the Lady Hawks get any closer as Westmont put up three more goals in the first half to lead 6-1 at the break.
SDCC played a tough second half but Westmont was able to slip two more goals in to take the game 8-1.
Katelyn Ogle and Emily Wilson split time in net for SDCC, combining for 10 saves against a relentless Westmont attack that saw the Warriors fire off 35 total shots, including 18 shots on goal.
SDCC returns home for a game with Hope International on Tuesday, October 18th at 1:00pm.
