] San Diego, Calif. --
The Lady Hawks of San Diego Christian College welcomed the Biola Eagles to campus Saturday, looking to end a small losing streak and take back momentum heading into the heart of the GSAC season.
Instead the Eagles (5-5, 2-1 GSAC) jumped on top early and used two quick second half goals to overcome a comeback attempt by SDCC (4-6, 0-3) to take the game 3-1.
The first half saw Biola outshoot SDCC 14-4 and maintain ball possession for the majority of the time. Keeper Emily Wilson collected four saves in the first half to keep the game within striking distance at the break.
SDCC tried to mount a comeback after Biola had stretched the lead to 3-0. In the 68th minute, Senior All-GSAC Forward Hannah Waggoner dribbled past two defenders to the top of the box and drilled a shot that ricocheted off the cross bar and into the goal. The goal was Waggoner’s 11th on the season, which currently leads the GSAC.
SDCC was unable to get any closer and the game ended with a 3-1 BU advantage. Wilson played all 90 minutes in goal for SDCC and collected seven saves against the BU attack.
SDCC travels to Concordia on Tuesday, October 11th for a 3:30pm game against the Eagles.
