] San Diego, Calif. --
The San Diego Christian College men’s soccer team was looking for momentum shift on Saturday after dropping the previous four contests, and welcomed the Biola Eagles to the SDCC campus. BU was not kind to the hosts, striking just minutes into the game and holding off an SDCC second half attack to win the game 3-0.
Biola improves to 7-2-2 and 2-1 in conference while SDCC falls to 2-7-1 and 0-3 in the GSAC.
The Eagles scored the first goal of the game just under three minutes into the game on a throw in from Cody Shelton from the left side of the field. The ball sailed into the box and was headed in by Zach Bautista, just past keeper Cameron Riley.
Biola took a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute when Daniel Chew received a pass from Carlos Ballesteros in the middle of the box and slid the ball past a diving Riley. BU took a 2-0 lead into the break.
After being outshot 8-2 in the first half, SDCC came out with renewed energy and attacked the Biola defense. Unfortunately, the Hawks were unable to get the ball past goal keeper Aaron Fenslason who collected four saves in the second half. Biola added on to the lead with a late goal and collected the 3-0 win.
Cameron Riley played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hawks and Justin Picou had three shots on goal to try to spark the SDCC offense.
SDCC travels to Concordia on Tuesday, October 11th for a 1:00pm game against the Eagles.
