El Cajon, Calif. --The San Diego Christian College volleyball team hosted the #15 rated Biola Eagles Saturday evening, falling in three games 25-14, 25-22, 25-17.

Biola improves to 17-7 (5-3 GSAC) while SDCC falls to 5-18 (0-8 GSAC).

The first game saw Biola take advantage of a .481 attack percentage for the game and 10-3 run to stretch their lead to 23-9. SDCC tried to fight back, taking five of the next seven points, but the lead was too far out of hand at that point and the Eagles took game one 25-14.

Game two started with a 4-1 deficit for the Hawks before the SDCC and Eagles started trading points. The Eagles crept ahead 15-10 and subsequently saw the Hawks take the next four points on serves by Chelsea Rose. An Aja Walker kill and a Shelby Broberg block finished the small run and cut the lead to one. BU responded quickly with a 4-1 run and again exchanged sideouts with SDCC. With the lead at 23-19, SDCC used two kills from Walker to cut the lead to one at 23-22, prompting an Eagle timeout. Out of the timeout, both teams refused to give up the point, but BU was able finally end the volley with a kill from Nicolette Mather. The Eagles then collected the final point of the game with a kill from Sarah McAtee. Walker ended the game with five kills and SDCC had a .310 attack percentage.

Biola was able to take control of game three late, as the game had 11 ties. SDCC held the lead briefly at 13-13 and again at 14-13. After the Hawks tied the game at 16-16, BU went on a 9-1 run to win the game and match.

SDCC was led by Aja Walker with 10 kills and Lauren Phillips with 9 kills. Cassidy Mertens pitched in with 28 assists. Stephanie Rice had 16 digs and Shelby Broberg had five blocks.

The Hawks continue their season on Tuesday, October 11th on the road against Point Loma Nazarene University at 7:00pm.
