Azusa Pacific University (22-16, 15-12 GSAC) completed the series sweep of the San Diego Christian College (5-25, 3-20 GSAC) Hawks on Saturday afternoon, 6-5 and 9-2.
In game one, the Hawks were up 5-3 going into the eigth inning behind starter Adair Robles' seven inning, five strikeout appearance. SDC was average at the plate, tallying seven hits through nine innings, with junior Chris Pascual (1-4) doubling in their 2 RBIs in the fourth.
APU gained one run in the bottom of the eigth and sealed the win with a walk off two-run home run from Brent Warren to hand the Hawks the 6-5 loss.
Kevin Keefe (0-2), who relieved Brock Heerdt the 8th, was tagged with the loss; the home run was the lone hit he gave up. APU's Jason Plowman (1-1) pitched the ninth for the Cougars, striking out one, also getting the win. Their starter, Ben Ruder, gave up five runs on seven hits, walked three, and struck out six.
Game two had the Hawks tying the seven inning contest at one in the third, only to have APU create a significant margin with a six-run breakout fifth inning. SDC was plagued with errors, five by games end, resulting in starter Marco Solis only be charged with 6 of the 8 runs allowed in his appearance. APU out hit SDC 11-4, with Pascual going 2-2 with his second double of the day and second of the year.
Solis would receive the loss in four and a third innings, giving up 7 hits, walking three and striking out two. APU's Jacob Cage completed the game, giving up 2 runs on four hits.
