Lakeside, Calif. -- Biola University (16-9, 10-3 GSAC) swept the Hawks' (4-15, 2-10 GSAC) home series on Thursday afternoon, 15-7.
BU posed a threat in the first, but a double play cut their run short. In the bottom of the first, SDC would score the first run of the game started by David Kazcor's (2-3, RBI) infield single, with Nick Bando's single to short to bring him home.
The Eagles busted the game open in the top of the third taking advantages of a few walks and timely hits for five runs. SDC then tacked on two against Nick Turner's quick work pace, but the Eagles continued to hit, including Drake Fages' 12th and Brian Loard's 3rd homer of the season.
After fifteen BU runs through eight innings, senior Casey Lee in his only at bat singled in two to make the score 15-5 going into the 9th. The Hawks scored two in the ninth, but it was too little, too late.
BU's Mac Sullivan went 4-for-6 for the Eagles scoring 2 runs, producing 4 RBIs for Turner (3-1) who went 7, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, striking out six. Hawks starter Brandon James (1-2) took his second loss of the season in three innings. BU tagged the Hawks for 6 runs on four hits, taking advantage of the four walks during his time on the mound.
Biola hosts SDC on Saturday for the final two games of the series, starting at 12:00pm. Stay tuned to schedule changes/postponements due to rain. For schedules and notices, click here: [SDCC Baseball][BU Baseball]
