Azusa, Calif. -- The San Diego Christian College 2010-11 season ended on Saturday night against No. 6 Azusa Pacific University (26-4, 17-3 GSAC) in a 91-63 defeat. They close with a 8-22 overall record and a 2-18 GSAC record.
Senior Jason Starr had 18 points (5-10FG, 3-6 3P,T 5-6 FT), 5 rebounds and junior Xavier Mylleville contributed 12 points (5-8 FG), 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block.
APU opened up a healthy lead in the first half, leading 44-31 at the half, shooting 16-35 from the field and 7-16 from downtown. SDC shot 50% (13-26) from the field, hitting 4 three's, but only 1 of 5 free throw chances.
The Cougars walked away with the win in the second half, widening the score to a 30 point gap at one point with four Cougars totaling 53 of APU's 91 points.
As for the Hawks season ending totals, Starr found himself at the top of multiple catergories including total points (332, 11.1ppg), three-point percentage (41.9%, 65-155), and field goals made (108, 3.6/g). Junior Benji Arvizu lead in steals (29), assists (49) and made free throws (79, 2.9/g). Junior Tim Sanders brought down a team high 130 rebounds (4.3/g), tying with Mylleville with 16 blocks and Senior Tyler Mutton finished his career with the most three's for the Hawks with 71 and the second most points with 327 (10.9/g).
