Santa Clarita, Calif. -- San Diego Christian College (2-5, 0-2 GSAC) Baseball kicked off 2011 Golden State Athletic Conference play against The Master's College (11-4, 2-0 GSAC) on Thursday, falling 7-4 and 4-2.

Dominic Neocoechea was solid in game one for the Hawks, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. His contribution came in the third for SDC's first run of the game and in the 7th on a sacrifice fly that brought Taylor Maddox home to tie the game at 3. Maddox went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI.

SDC went ahead in the top of the 8th on a dribbler from Nick Bando that forced a fielder's choice allowing Trevor Bloom (3-for-4) to score. But the lead was short lived when the bottom of the eight started out with a hit batter, leading to a four run, five hit clincher for the Mustangs.

Kevin Keefe took the loss for the Hawks, while TMC's Tyler Bersano went a complete game giving up 4 runs on 11 hits. He struck out five of the 36 batters he faced. SDC's starter Adair Robles gave a solid 7 innings, striking out 7. TMC racked up 3 runs on 8 hits against Robles.

In game two the Hawks struggled offensively posting only 1 run and three hits off of TMC starter Charlie Gillies in the first six innings. SDC's starter, sophomore righty Brock Heerdt went eight innings with eight strikeouts, but also gave up four runs on eight hits to the Mustangs. The game had three homeruns, two from TMC and one from Trevor Bloom who went 2-for-4 with an RBI (5-9, 2 RBI). Senior Dominic Neocoechea doubled in senior Joe Cuttone in the fourth for the Hawks other run.

Heerdt was tagged with the loss, Gillies with the win, and James Scott pitched three innings and was credited with the save. Scott faced 11 batters, striking out three, giving up a run and a hit.

The Master's College comes to Stars Field on Saturday (Feb. 26) to close out the series starting at 11:00am. Because rain is in the forecast around Saturday's game time check the SDCC baseball schedule and/or the athletic Twitter (@sdccathletics) for updates in case of postponement.
