El Cajon, Calif. -- San Diego Christian (7-21, 1-17 GSAC) fell 92-86 to the Westmont College (20-7, 12-6 GSAC) Warriors on a rainy Saturday night in El Cajon. The game, controlled by fouls, yielded 61 total called fouls setting a record high 4 foul outs for SDC and 61 total points out of the 77 free throws taken. Westmont was thankful for the 42 (79.2%) points from free throw opportunities, one of the only few catergories they lead in.

For SDC, Senior Jason Starr closed out the game with 19 points (5-12 FG, 4-10 3FG, 5-5 FT) 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Senior Aaron Felix, who led SDC in the first half with 14 points, finished with 18 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3FG, 3-4 FT) 3 rebounds and an assist. Junior Tim Sanders had the team high 6 rebounds for SDC also adding 12 points.

The Warriors held a consistent high pressure hustle on both sides of the court, forcing SDC to step up their game from the tipoff. A 43-40 halftime score was the product of a collective 28 points off of 34 free throw attempts and around 44% shooting from both teams.

The second half was an even match up with the exception of the unusual number of free throws. SDc was 44.1% (15-34) from the field and 7-14 from downtown. Even the addition of the 81.8% shooting from the line (9-11) wasn't enough to keep up with the foul rate.

WC's Preston Branson finished with 25 points, going 7-14 from the field and a solid 11-11 at the free throw line and Blake Bender had 23 points (6-9 FG 11-14 FT), 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

SDC wraps up their 2010-2011 home games on Tuesday (Feb. 22) night against Vanguard University. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30pm with Senior Night also taking place. Five seniors, Aaron Felix, Paul Wolf, Jason Starr, Viktor Asaciovas, and Tyler Mutton will be honored at the game.
