El Cajon, Calif. -- The San Diego Christian College (8-18, 3-15 GSAC) Lady Hawks laid down an upset win over the No. 21 Westmont College (19-7, 11-7 GSAC) Warriors on Saturday night, bumping WC to a tie for fourth in the GSAC with Vanguard University. SDC's Brittany Robinson [pictured left] (14.1ppg) topped out at 21 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3FG, 4-5 FT), 6 assists, 3 steals and 3 rebounds in the win.
SDC lead by 6 at one point despite four turnovers on key possessions early on. Westmont was never far behind in the close match up seeing 8 ties and 7 lead changes in the first. WC's Angel Blanco, who had 19 points (7-14 FG, 5-7 FT) and 9 rebounds by games end, bucketed 5 points in the final two minutes to give the Warriors a 37-36 lead going into the half.
Robinson was the point leader in the half in SDC's 40.0% (12-30) shooting and improved 10-12 shooting from the line.
SDC gave the lead up only once in the second half, carrying a single digit lead through to the 77-71 win. SDC hit 5 three's in the second and 10-13 free throws edging out WC's 13-33 from the field.
The next game for the Hawks takes place on Tuesday (Feb. 22) at SDC's Ryan Athletic Center. Senior Melissa Villalobos will be honored as a part of Senior Night as the Hawks close out their 2010-11 season home games against Vanguard University.
