San Diego, Calif. -- Yet another tough loss came down on San Diego Christian College (7-16, 2-13 GSAC) on Tuesday night as they fell 55-49 to crosstown rival Point Loma Nazarene University (10-13, 5-10 GSAC).
Junior forward Juanita Lewis was 4-10 from the field and 1-1 on the three for 11 points and 7 rebounds. Junior guard's Brittany Robinson (4-11 FG, 3-6 3PT) and Jasmin Thomas (4-11 FG, 2-3 FT) both finished with 10 points. Thomas had 3 assists to her name as well.
A neck and neck first half had PLNU closing out with the 28-27 lead. SDC struggled from the field, shooting 32.1%, but stayed in contention with the 38.7% (12-31) shooting Sea Lions with the three (4-11) and free throws (5-8). The half had a total of 9 fouls, 3 for SDC and 6 for Loma, yielding only 10 total free throw attempts.
Robinson was 3-4 for 9 points in the first and Villalobos brought down 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Loma's first half point leader was Abby Boorman (4-9 FG) with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
SDC led for a five minute stretch in the heart of the second half, but four blocks from Boorman had a hand in shutting down the Hawks offense. The Hawks shot 8-30 (26.7%) in the second and 29.3% overall.
PLNU was 23-57 (40.4%) and 6-10 at the line while SDC was 9-14 from the charity stripe and 6-20 (30.0%) from downtown.
PLNU's Crissa Jackson finished w 18 points (7-14 FG, 3-4 FT), 4 assists and 3 rebounds. Boorman closed out with 15 rebounds, 13 points and 6 blocks.
San Diego Christian hosts Biola University as a part of the 40th year anniversary celebration on February 12 (Sat.) at 2:00pm.
