La Mirada, Calif. -- San Diego Christian fell 72-61 on Saturday night to the No. 18 ranked Biola University Eagles. The Eagles are now 15-1 overall and 5-1 in GSAC while the Hawks fall to 1-4 in conference and 7-9 overall.

In the opening 10 minutes, BU scored 8 of 12 points off the Hawks 5 turnovers, proposing a frustrating night for the Hawks. SDC rallied with the help of 83% free throw shooting and BU's then 38% shooting from the field, to stay within two at 18-16 with 5:55 to go. But a 9-0 BU run deflated the Hawks forward momentum, closing out the half down 31-24.

SDC shot 34.8% (8-23) from the field in the first with senior Aaron Felix scoring 8 points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt and 3-4 FT) and junior Xavier Mylleville and senior Viktor Asaciovas pulling down 4 rebounds a piece. BU was 12-27 from the field (44.4%).

Off the break, BU extended their lead to 13 (51-38), holding the double-digit margin with the help of SDC fouls, putting BU at the line
six times in a minute and a half (59-40). With 4 minutes to go, SDC pulled within 8 (61-53) on a 7-0 run only to be nudged out by Biola's
clutch closing shots, 72-61.

Felix ended the game with 15 points, hitting 4-7 from the field. Junior Tim Sanders had 11 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and Mylleville had the team high 6 rebounds.

The Hawks shot 41% from the field (20-49) while BU hit 25 of 53 shots (47%) and 21 of 28 free throws. SDC led the game in steals (6), but the 25 team fouls allowed BU the opportunity to pull away from the Hawks by way of the charity stripe.

SDC continues GSAC play on Tuesday, January 11 at home, hosting California Baptist University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm following the women's game.
