El Cajon, Calif. -- A solid cross town rivalry took place on Tuesday night against Point Loma Nazarene with both teams sporting a pregame 6-6, 1-3 GSAC record. Despite a near double-double from Brittany Robinson, PLNU took the game 65-60. Point Loma is now 7-6 overall and 2-3 in conference while SDC drops to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the GSAC.

PLNU and SDC exchanged leads two times a piece with the Hawks creating the biggest gap at 8 points on a three from Robinson with 6:05 to go (21-13). It wasn't long before the Sea Lions bounded back on an 11-0 run starting at 3:48 to take a 27-24 lead into the half.

Robinson had 12 points in the first, hitting 3-6 three-point shots, but as a whole the Hawks shot a mere 22.6% (7-31). Loma wasn't too far ahead, posting a 37% shooting average (10-27) with their top point scorer, Brianna Colon having 15 points (12.5ppg).

Point Loma held a single digit lead through the first 9 minutes of the second, finding themselves behind for a short period at 46-45 after freshman Heather Serven hit her second three of the night. Two three's from PLNU's leading scorers, Colon and Crissa Jackson opened the run for the 65-60 Sea Lion win.

PLNU turned their game up in the second half, outshooting SDC 54.2% (13-24) to 30.0% (9-30). SDC closed out the game having made only 26.2% of their shots. It was the 23 points off of free throws that kept SDC in the running with Robinson having 11 of SDC's game opportunities at the line.

Robinson hit 3 of 9 three's finishing with 16 points, 9 rebounds and a steal. Junior Jasmin Thomas finished with 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-3 FT), 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

SDC takes to the road for the first time since early December for their first meeting with No. 7 Biola University on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm in La Mirada.
