Three turnovers started the game off for Fresno Pacific, with SDC taking a 2-0 lead, forcing the Sunbirds to take a time out. That timeout refocused FPU putting them on a streak to an 11 point lead at 24-13. FPU connected with their scoing leader, Jessica Torrecillas, under the basket, leading her to 10 first half points (4-4 FT). FPU led until junior Michelle Gonzalez sunk her fourth free throw to tie the game at 26. SDC hit the next two opportunities taking a 33-29 lead into the half.
The noticable difference in the first was the turnover ratio 16-3, with SDC recording 8 steals. Three Hawks capped the first with 6 points a piece, while shooting 30.6% as a team (11-36). FPU was 9-21 (42.9%) from the field and 7-9 from the line.
Despite the 6 tie scores and five lead changes, with the game coming down to the final minute. Villalobos knocked down a three to break the 55-55 tie with 1:51 to go. FPU would come within one point, but freshman Heather Serven hit both sides of the 1 and 1 to seal the 60-57 win.
By games end, FPU had turned the ball over thirty times, but outshot the Hawks 40.5% (17-42) to 29.0% (20-69). SDC finished the game with 18 steals. Torrecillas was 5-9 from the field and 6-6 in free throws for 16 points. She also had 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.
