El Cajon, Calif. -- The first GSAC match up for the Hawks went to The Master's College on Tuesday night by a 83-75 score. The Hawks drop to a 3-4 overall and start 0-1 in the GSAC, while The Master's keeps a winning 3-1 record, taking a 1-0 conference record into the upcoming games.

The Mustangs busted out of the gate, blanking SDC on a 12-0 run. Amidst their double-digit push, they managed to rack up 8 fouls within the first 5 minutes of play. The 1-1 began to pay off for SDC when Xavier Mylleville went to the line, sinking all four of his first half free throw opportunities. TMC maintained their high pressure play, forcing SDC to take rushed shots, resulting in a mere 29% shooting percentage in the first. The Master's finished the first with a 37-26 lead, only to widen it on the otherside of the half.
The Mustangs hit a 20 point gap at 10:24 on a three-pointer from TMC's point leader Joey Fuca. Fuca posted 26 points, 6 assists, 3 steals and 4 rebounds, going 14-14 from the line, 2-2 on three's and 5-6 from the field.
SDC pulled within single digits as regulation wound down but couldn't get the key shots to drop in the final minutes, stalling their comeback at 83-75 as time expired.
The men's next big game takes place at Viejas Arena on November 26 (Friday) against the San Diego State University Aztecs who were recently ranked No. 18 in the NCAA Division I polling. The tip-off of the exhibition starts at 7:00pm. For online coverage, click here.
