El Cajon, Calif. -- The Lady Hawks (3-0, 0-0 GSAC) basketball team recorded shot 11-19 (57.9%) from downtown on Saturday against the La Sierra University (0-6) Golden Eagles, taking a 77-61 win.
Junior Brittany Robinson was 7-14 from the field for 21 points, earning a double-double with 12 rebounds. She nailed 5 of 7 from downtown and posted 3 assists and 3 steals in the win. Freshman Heather Serven, in her first game after an ankle injury against Westminster College, put up 15 points (6-12), hitting 3 of 6 from behind the arch. Freshman Alexa Davison followed closely behind Serven with 14 points, 8 rebounds and a block.
It was slow going in the first half for the Hawks who turned the ball over 13 times, shooting 13-36 from the field (36.1%). LSU managed to find their way to the hoop, drawing 10 fouls from the Hawks and shooting 44.8% in the first. The Hawks first half stat highlight came from freshman Jermani Daniels who had 5 offensive boards for the Hawks finishing the game with 9 total rebounds.
SDC settled into their game, posting 44 points to LSU's 25 in the second. Freshman Sabrina Jimenez came off the bench drawing fouls and contributing 6 points (4-5 from the line) and a block to the cause in her 9 solid minutes.
The Hawks take to the road once again on Saturday, November 20, to play NCAA Division II Cal State Los Angeles starting at 2:00pm at CSULA.
