Fullerton, Calif. -- Seventeen kills (.324), 5 digs, 2 assists and a block assist from junior Lauren Howard (pictured left), propelled the Hawks (9-18, 2-16 GSAC) to the second GSAC win over the Royals of Hope International University (6-17, 3-15 GSAC) on Saturday, 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20.

Freshman Sigourney Rockmore and senior Rachel Blair both posted 13 kills in the win. Rockmore hit a .346 clip with 1 solo block, three block assists and an assist. Blair added three block assists and three digs. Junior Jessica Brazynetz had 18 digs in the back court for the Hawks, and freshman Shelby Broberg collected 6 digs, 2 solo blocks and 5 block assists.

It was a night of blocks for both teams with San Diego Christian putting up 12 and Hope with 12.5. Hitting percentages suffered as SDC posted the highest team hitting percentage of the night at .235 through the first three sets. SDC hit .361 in the 4th, boosting the overall to .207.

HIU had a 5-1 lead that the Hawks climbed back to tie at 15 on a collection of Hawk kills. SDC hit .235 in the set. From 15-18, SDC went on a 5 point run off Brazynetz's serve, going up 20-18. HIU snuck in 2 points in the Hawks streak to 24-20, funded evenly by Royal attack errors and SDC kills. HIU's come back in the final points came up short as SDC's Rachel Blair countered with the final kill point to take the set.

The second had SDC up for the majority of the set, hitting a mere .176, but finding themselves out in front with the help of HIU errors.

HIU came out swinging in the third set, finding their first 5 points on 4 kills and an ace. It was tight through the teens, with SDC pulling within one at 22-21 on back-to-back blocks involving Broberg accompanied by Howard and Jessi Higgins. Unfortuantely, the Royals would put away two kills to take the game into the 4th set.

Attack errors slightly shifted set four to SDC's favor in the early points eventually distancing themselves at 13-10 on a Howard kill. The Hawks would not look back as they pulled out their second GSAC win in the fourth with a 25-20 score.

SDC takes to the road again on Tuesday, November 9 for the last away game of the year at Biola University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm in La Mirada, California.
