Irvine, Calif. -- It was a rough outing in Irvine on Friday afternoon as the Hawks (4-10-3, 0-7-2 GSAC) played their rescheduled game against the No. 16 Concordia Irvine Eagles (10-4-3, 5-2-2 GSAC), falling 5-1.
Hannah Waggoner's (pictured left) sixth goal of the season put the Hawks up 1-0 with 31 seconds left in the first. Clare Wohlfeil was credited with her second assist on the goal. The lead was short lived as CUI's Alyssa McDonald, who would score a hat trick by games end, evened the game in the 53rd minute. McDonald's game winner went in the 57th minute, followed by three more goals (61, 66, 87) to give CUI home field advantage in the first round of GSAC.
SDC keeper Katelyn Ogle had 7 saves in the first half and Emily Garbez took the brunt of the Eagles punch posting 5 saves in the second.
With one game remaning in the Golden State Athletic Conference regular season play, the Hawks will finish out their season at Hope International University on Saturday, October 30 starting at 12:00pm.
