El Cajon, Calif. -- The No. 8 California Baptist University Lancers (14-2, 8-1 GSAC) handed the Hawks a 6-0 loss in the last San Diego Christian College (1-13-1, 0-9 GSAC) home game on Wednesday.
It was uneventful opening 20 minutes, with an evenly played game taking place in the middle of the field. During that time, CBU had breaks at goal, but only recorded 6 shots out of their opportunities. Their goal drought didn't last long when a mistimed step-in in the box by a Hawk defender gave CBU a penalty kick in the 20th minute that they would take a 1-0 lead on. Nine minutes later, Heitor Santarem's patience at the top of the 18 paid off as he cracked one far post to put the Lancers up by 2.
The Hawks had their looks at goal in the second, often taking one pass to many, allowing CBU defenders to step in. SDC's Frank Zimmerman (pictured left) kept it from being 3-0 in the 37th minute when he deflected a CBU shot on the goal line. CBU would put away four goals in the 60, 69, 83 and 87 minutes, finishing the game having taken 23 shots.
SDC had three shots on Lancer keepers, totaling 8 on the day and Hawks keeper Bojan Maric finished with 5 saves in the SDC net.
SDC's last game of 2010 is on Saturday, October 30th at Hope International University. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30pm at CSU Fullerton.
