Broberg blocked APU out of their first potential lead in the second, posting 2 solo blocks. The Hawks led until APU evened the set at 12-12, then again at 13 and 14. A series of three Howard kills broke the final tie, giving SDC the 17-14 lead. The Cougars attempted to sneak back, but met two more blocks from Kim McCalmont/Valaree Bergmann and Broberg/Howard with the Hawks finishing them off with two kills.
The other sets were similiar in that APU pulled away near early double-digits building a considerable gap the Hawks couldn't catch up to.
