El Cajon, Calif. -- Former San Diego Christian College men’s basketball standout Xavier Mylleville has signed to play basketball professionally in his native Belgium. Mylleville has signed with KBBC Oostkamp in the Belgium Division 3 League.

“It is a symbolic day for our school and athletic program and shows that no matter what level you play at, there is a dream that can come true with character, hard work, and perseverance," said SDCC Head Coach Tim Cook. "We are so proud of Xavier in what he has accomplished on and off the court. He is obtaining his degree this summer from San Diego Christian and that is what it is all about. Xavier is a skilled 6'7 inside/outside post with a pro IQ."

"He will flourish in Belgium and he has worked his whole life for this opportunity.”

HW_news12 Mylleville averaged 6.9 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game in his two seasons for the Hawks. Despite struggling with injuries his senior season, Mylleville helped lead SDCC to the most wins in conference in five seasons.

Mylleville praised SDCC for helping him grow academically and spiritually. “Even though I attended SDCC for just two years, it helped me take a big step in my spiritual life and professional life,” said Mylleville. “I'm also going to be able to finish school up while I'm playing basketball overseas.”

"Coach Cook, Coach Mendez and Coach Cosby basically gave us a professional preparation before every game,” added Mylleville. “From practices, to watching game tape, to the scouting reports we got before the game; everything was the same as you would get in playing for a professional team.”

Mylleville continued, “With the GSAC being so competitive, we played a very good team every game which made all of us better players.”

Mylleville is the third Hawk in the past two seasons (in addition to Paul Wolf and Victor Asaciovas) to sign a professional contract.

"With the signing of Xavier to a professional basketball contract, it continues the long line of student-athletes from San Diego Christian who have gone on to success at the pro level," said Cook. "We have had a rich tradition at SDCC of Final Four Appearances and developing our student-athletes to move on to the next stage in their life whether that be in business, teaching, ministry, or basketball."

"This adds continued credibility to the Hawks' Basketball Program."
