El Cajon, Calif. --The San Diego Christian College baseball team took advantage of the miscues of Bethesda University on Tuesday, scoring seven unearned runs en route to a 7-1 victory.

SDCC moves to 15-20 overall.

The Hawks took the lead in the bottom of the second, when Chris Pascual doubled off of the left field wall to lead off the ending. After two outs, Alex Mann reached on an error that moved Pascual to third. Robert Aguirre then reached on an overthrow up the first base line that scored Pascual from third and Mann from first.

SDCC scored one run in the fifth when Jeff Lusardi reached on an error and moved to second base, only to score when Victor Martinez’s grounder to first base was mishandled on the throw to the pitcher who was covering.

The Hawks added another run in the sixth when Mann reached on an error and was driven home on a Gary Foster (pictured left) triple.

The Hawks put up three more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Lusardi doubled to lead the inning off and was replaced by Richard Aguirre to run at second base. After Martinez walked, Cedric Bogan entered to pinch run for Martinez. With Pascual batting, a pitch went in the dirt and scooted away from the catcher. Aguirre and Bogan took off, and the catcher gathered the ball and overthrew third, allowing Aguirre to score and Bogan to take third. Pascual then grounded out to drive in Bogan. The Hawks final run came with Dawson Jones scoring when Robert Aguirre’s grounder was mishandled by the second baseman.

SDCC’s Calvin Chambers improved to 1-1 on the season, throwing seven innings and allowing only five hits while striking out five.

SDCC was led by Foster’s 2-4 afternoon with one RBI. Mann was 1-3 with a pair of runs scored.

SDCC travels to Cal State San Marcos for doubled headers on Friday and Saturday. First pitch on both days is scheduled for 12:00pm.
