After a regular season in which the San Diego Christian College women’s basketball team set a school record for wins and qualified for the conference tournament for the first time since 99-00, the Lady Hawks’ leading scorer Brittany Daniel was honored by being named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team on Wednesday evening.
Daniel, junior guard from San Diego and transfer from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, averaged 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game this season. Daniel scored over 20 points on 15 occasions, including a season-high 27 points against Hope International University on January 17th.
Daniel is ranked tenth in the NAIA and fourth in the GSAC in points per game to lead the Lady Hawks to a 20-11 record.
Head Coach Kelsey Dillon praised her junior guard, stating “We knew Brittany would come in and be a program changer. She is an amazing athlete and was virtually unstoppable in every aspect of her game.”
Dillon continued, “She overcame a lot this season between injuries and illness, so I am really proud of what she was able to accomplish.”
“Brittany has set the platform for herself next season, and when we make the national tournament, she will earn recognition on the All-American team for sure.”
