Student Life

 

Missions Symposium with LiNK - Wednesday @ 8:00pm in the Nest. Come and see the new release “Hiding” on liberating North Korea. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Spring Break Missions Opportunity At the Tecate Bible Institute, March 6-9 - There is still room to join this Team. Students can use this for the Student Ministry requirement. Contact Whitney or Steve in Student Life for all the details. Staff and Faculty – we are collecting food for the Bible Institute. You can donate large cans of vegetables, fruit or pinto beans. The Tecate team will deliver them for you. Bring any donations to Student Life by Friday, March 4th.

Knott's Berry Farm Trip: POSTPONED

- Due to weather, the trip to Knotts Berry Farm is postponed until March. Instead there will be a Bowling Night for this Saturday, February 26th. Bowling Night is open to students only. Sign up in the Student Life office.

 

Academics

Library News - The library has received word from President Ague that a grant proposal sent by the college in November 2010 has been approved for 33 new library computers. We thank God for this special blessing for our students!

Student Life

Chapel Attendance - Check your attendance on the Chapel Board in the Main Hallway. If you have excessive skips you can complete four make-ups. They must be submitted by midnight, February 23rd to the chapel email .

Tecate Missions Opportunity - We will be traveling to Tecate Bible Institute on Saturday, February 26th from 6:00am-6:00pm for a work day. If interested, please contact Whitney Canty or Steve Jenkins in Student Life. You need a heart bent for serving, a passport, the short application form and a few bucks for tacos.

Commuter Event: Knott's Berry Farm! - Ride the rides and enjoy fun with friends at Knott's Berry Farm on Saturday, February 26th! Ticket prices:

  • Commuters - $15
  • Non-Commuters - $23
  • Faculty/Staff/Family/Friends - $23 (pay by February 23)
  • Optional Meal Pass - $9

The first 40 students to pay can save on gas and ride the bus! Contact Kristy Fowler for more details!

Spring Break Tecate Opportunity - We are building a team to serve at Tecate Bible Institute March 6-9, during Spring Break. Work projects and other ministry opportunities available. If interested, contact Whitney Canty or Steve Jenkins in Student Life. Cost is minimal and you can receive Student Ministry Credit!

 

 

Enrollment Services

Is Your Financial Aid Complete? - Make sure you complete the necessary steps for Financial Aid by March 2nd! File your FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov  and complete the SDCC Returning Student Financial Aid application that was listed in your email. If you have any questions, please contact the Enrollment Services Office.

2011 Writing Contest Update - The 2011 Department of English Writing Contest is now the Dr. Paul Ague Writing Contest! Lorri Ague has stepped forward to sponsor the yearly writing contest in honor of her husband's commitment to education. Because of this generous gift, the amounts of the cash prizes have doubled! The deadline for submissions is March 4th, so act now! Click here for submission guidelines. 

Cheer On Your Debate Team! - The SDCC Speech and Debate Team will be competing at the Spring Championship Tournament February 25th-27th at Moorpark College. Good luck, team!

SDCC Announces the 2011 Alumnus of the Year

Alumnus 2011 Sheryl Russell

San Diego Christian College is privileged to honor Sheryl Russell with the 2011 Alumnus of the Year award. 

SDCC is celebrating 40 years, and it is very fitting that its first valedictorian is being honored with this award. 

Sheryl Russell has been acknowledged for her business accomplishments by the Women Together organization for her work in the arts and has received the Channel 10 Leadership Award. She was also honored as Mother of the Year by March of Dimes. She is currently serving as a “mentor mom” for the Mothers of Preschoolers organization (MOPS).
