Making MLK a Day ON, Not a Day Off

Dr. King says that everyone can be great because everyone can serve. Therefore, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 53 SDC students, staff and faculty served throughout the Santee and Lakeside areas to six different serving sites on their day off. As SDC’s sixth year participating in MLK Day of Service, we provided the community of Santee and Lakeside over 159 hours of service!

Students and staff worked tirelessly lifting heavy materials, broke through walls, waterproofed a ranch, built a fence, assisted in the recreational activity in a local hospital, assisted the needs of the elderly and had fun while doing it. SDC would like to thank all of the community partners: Home of Guiding Hands, Santee Caring Neighbors, Edgemoor Hospital, Home Base Ranch, Santee Food bank and our Lakeside neighbor, Tommy.
